Analysing the Potential Good Deals for the US$150 Daily Resort Credit (Conrad, Waldorf Astoria and LXR)

Conrad Bali (Credits: Hilton.com)

Summary: Good news if you are travelling to Manilla, Hong Kong or Seoul soon. Or maybe even speculative bookings in China…..

As mentioned in the previous post, I have recently booked a 2-night stay at Conrad Bali with this deal (shown as Lrm Exclusive Rate), and I would have to say that it is absolutely value-for-money!

  • After deducting hotel credit, it came to a significant 37% discount, or S$166.44/night nett for an Ocean Front Suite.

  • The daily US$150 resort credit could be used for in-room and restaurant dining and more importantly, spa credits. Very flexible! This was the case for Conrad Bali, but could be dependent on individual hotel policy.

This led me to do a little (ok not that little) research into any potential values for other Conrad, Waldorf Astoria and LXR hotels, that I may have possibilities of staying for the next year.

For this purpose, I mainly looked at hotels in the following regions:

  • Middle East (UAE : Dubai, Abu Dhabi)

  • Southeast Asia: (Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines)

  • East Asia (Japan, South Korea, China)

I compared the Lrm Exclusive Rates (after deducting resort credit) with the cheapest rates shown on the Hilton website (could be prepaid non-refundable or flexible rate)

The Analysis

My first search was for Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as I am planning a potential trip around November this year (F1 Abu Dhabi!).Sadly, there were no significant good deals from these areas, as the Lrm Exclusive Rates for all hotels were either 1) higher than the cheapest rate or 2) only have slight savings of less than 5%.

However, a deep delve into other countries gave some good insights and potential significant discounts! A summary table is listed below, but if you would like to know more on my thoughts for some of the hotel options, move on:

Note: In this table, I excluded hotels that do not fit in the above 2 criteria as mentioned above.

Thailand

The next country on my search list was Thailand, after being tempted by Waldorf Astoria Bangkok. Disappointingly, a rough search seems to give only a 21% discount versus the cheapest price. For some reason, there was no Lrm Exclusive Credit available for Conrad Bangkok during my search.

Just out of curiosity, I searched for Conrad Koh Samui, and was similarly disappointed. Better to book using points.

Indonesia

As mentioned, Conrad Bali is still offering cheapest rates of S$162 nett (after deducting hotel credit) up to next year! May consider a speculative booking for another trip soon.

Philippines

Conrad Manila (Picture from Hilton.com)

There is only one eligible hotel in the list, which is Conrad Manila. The Lrm Exclusive Rate of S$119 nett (after deducting hotel credit) gives a whopping 53% discount off the cheapest pre-paid rate! I may consider having a short stopover before travelling to Australia, as Philippine Airlines seem to offer good flight deals recently.

Hong Kong

Conrad Hong Kong (Picture from Hilton.com)

Conrad Hong Kong is offering an Lrm Exclusive Rate of S$118 nett (after deducting hotel credit) , a noteworthy 49% discount off the cheapest flexible rate. A pity that Hong Kong has not opened up yet!

Japan/South Korea

Japan was another country of interest, however only Conrad Osaka has a Lrm Exclusive Rate to consider. Even then, only 12% discount. Meh.

A search on South Korea offers another intriguing option. Conrad Seoul for S$152 nett (after deducting hotel credit), a 48% discount!

China

Waldorf Astoria Chengdu (Picture from Hilton.com)

Although China is not opened yet, I did a search for speculative timings of late this year and early next year. The country has a lot of Conrad and Waldorf Astoria hotels, and a speculative search brings up some interesting options. Of note, Waldorf Astoria Chengdu (61% discount), Conrad Guangzhou (58% discount) and Conrad Shengyang (40% discount) are offering pretty great Lrm Exclusive Credit rates (after deducting hotel credit)! Maybe a tentative booking as late as possible, to meet the pandas?

Conclusion

It was an interesting search, but was disappointed that there are no enticing options for Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Koh Samui under this deal, which were in my travel plans. I will look into my travel plans for the upcoming year to see whether I may be able to make use of the good options as listed above, keep my fingers crossed.

Hopefully this will be useful for those of you who are interested in making use of this for your upcoming travel plans!
