Hilton Frankfurt Airport
Located conveniently within Frankfurt Airport and train stations, Hilton Frankfurt Airport is a decent choice if you are doing a layover or arriving late at night, and only travelling out the next day

As I was looking at a late night arrival at Frankfurt Airport, in the end I chose to stay overnight at Frankfurt Airport for a few reasons:
I bought the Frankfurt Card for local transportation and discounts across the attractions (useful if you are visiting a lot of museums, about 50% discount for most of them!), and I thought that I could save a bit if I only redeem the card the next day (saving one day cost). This backfired on me, read on to know more.
As it is my first time in Frankfurt, it would be better to take my time and get familiarized with the locations first to fully enjoy my trip. Nothing is worse than getting trapped in the City Centre in the middle of the night.
It was my first time using eSIM (I was using Airalo), and I wanted to make sure that it was working fine before heading out. By the way, despite an inital few glitches, it worked really well in Frankfurt! Highly recommended. Use my referral code G1063 to get US$3 off your first purchase.
Hilton Frankfurt Airport: Booking
I wanted to stay nearer to the regional trains, where I will be taking off into the city the next day. Even then, I had a range of options to choose from: Sheraton and Marriott Frankfurt Airport from the Marriott range, Hilton Garden Inn and Hilton Frankfurt Airport from the Hilton range. In the end, I settled upon Hilton Frankfurt Airport, where Hilton was having a flash sale, and booked a base-level deluxe twin room for 149 EUR.
Although there are reviews that Hilton Garden Inn is newer, I figured out that the main Hilton hotel wasn’t that bad since OMAAT had reviewed it. If it is good enough for him, it should be for me too!
Hilton Frankfurt Airport: Arrival and Check-In
Hilton Frankfurt Airport is located at The Squaire, about 10 mins walk from the international arrival gate, and it takes a bit of effort to find it as there is no visible directions. You have to go down the escalators to B1, and travel back up to Level 3 through another set of escalators. You will go pass the local U-bahn commuting area on the way. And after that there will be signs guiding you in the right direction.
The Squaire is also where you will find the main airport hotels, like Sheraton, Marriott to name a few. At the main plaza (in picture), turn right and you will find another set of escalators up, and you found it! You will see both Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport side by side.
I arrived late at night, and after some effort finding the hotel, I heaved a sigh of relief as the check-in process was fast and straight-forward.
I booked the base-level Twin Guest Room, and was pleased to know that I had been upgraded to the Twin Executive Room, albeit with a caveat: the Executive Lounge was closed, and the counter replaced this with 2 complimentary drinks from the mini-bar. A disappointment! But it didnt bother me that much as I was travelling to the City Centre the next day.
Hilton Frankfurt Airport: Room
I was assigned a high-level room facing the atrium, and this may be an issue if you prefer more privacy and natural light.
On first impression, the Twin Executive Room has just what a tired traveller will need, and not over-the-top. The room has a lazing chair facing the window and bed (wonder why is it in this direction?) , which didn’t look that comfy and preferring to laze on bed.
There is also a working desk for those looking to catch up on work, and was pretty big. I just did not like its position right below the TV, which may be an issue if you have a companion working.
The 55-inch LCD TV had an obscene amount of channels (100 plus?!), but were mostly German speaking channels. Fans of German Football will be delighted! In a European country, there were also some tastefully adult channels, but I prefer to watch more family-friendly ones.
The bed was comfortable enough, as per my experience with Hilton beds. One pet peeve of mine is to have the charging points near the bed, and I am glad to say that the room passed this. Although there were no USB charging points.
The wardrobe was also pretty decent and that is also where the safe is located.
Beside the wardrobe is where the mini-bar is located, and has a coffee machine and Eiffen tea bags, which seem to be popular amongst Frankfurt hotels. The fridge was also fully stocked, and in the end I took two bottles of still water for my complimentary drinks.
The bathroom is quite spacious, and was surprised to find a bathtub. There is no rain shower, which is usually ok with me, but I faced 2 main issues:
The water temperature took quite a while to get warm, and it was still not warm enough
The glass divider that is separating the shower from the toilet is too narrow, hence splashing occurred during my shower.
The second point is especially annoying, as I usually like my non-shower areas to be dry.
As per Hilton hotel chains, bathroom amenities are provided by Crabtree and Evelyn, which always does the job. They provided plenty of them, which is always nice as I do not need to call housekeeping too often.
Hilton Frankfurt Airport: Facilities
I did not use the facilities (and subsequently no pictures), but there is an Executive Lounge (closed during my stay) and a gym, which could be useful for guests for a much-needed workout during their stay.
Hilton Frankfurt Airport: Breakfast
Breakfast was served at the main restaurant, the aptly-named Rise. The restaurant is located at Level 1, near the elevators.
Interestingly, there was a young Chinese waitress (possibly an intern), and she seemed pleasantly surprised when she seated me in, as I was the only Asian among the guests in the restaurant.
As per European hotels, breakfast consists of a continental breakfast buffet, with bread, cold cuts and cheese, cereals and yoghurt stations. There was a self-served hot food section which consists of scrambled and fried eggs, pork and chicken sausages.
I had both egg types and sausages, together with some pastries. I have to say that German pastries are pretty delicious (comparable with the Danish), and this seemed to be the trend throughout my trip.
After packing my luggage, I then went to get my Frankfurt Card and checked out at about 12pm, onwards to the City Centre.
Conclusion
Overall, although nothing fanciful, Hilton Frankfurt Airport does its job as a hotel catered mostly to short-stay tourists and business travellers. A solid option if you are planning a short layover, or if you are coming in late night.
