Review: SGN-SIN A320 Scoot Economy Class
As a budget airline, Scoot’s A320 economy class seats does exactly what it offers: a seat with reasonable legroom suitable for short regional flights, all at an affordable price. A pleasantly surprising discovery on this particular flight!
SGN-SIN A320 Scoot Economy Class
After a fruitful 2 days in Ho Chi Minh (and fulfilling the mission of using up my Discovery Dollars) it was time to head back to Singapore. I opted for the hotel shuttle bus to Ho Chi Minh airport, and the journey was uneventful, with minimal traffic due to it being off-peak hours.
The shuttle dropped me off at the International terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, from where I boarded my Scoot economy class flight back.
Damage: S$59 (with priority boarding due to my Krisflyer Silver status)
Check In
The crowd at SGN was relatively manageable, especially when compared to Bangkok Airport. Scoot's counter was situated at the far-right corner of the departures hallway entrance, requiring few minutes of walking. The queue was minimal, and I swiftly obtained my boarding pass pretty quickly.
However, the primary challenge arose at Passport Control, where the lines were exceptionally long. This issue seemed consistent with my inbound experience. It's unclear whether it's related to the Passport Control staff or the passenger identification system, perhaps both. Clearing Passport Control took approximately 30 minutes, followed by an additional 20 minutes for the Security Check. Take note of this when passing through SGN!
Proceeding directly to the gate, I spotted some interesting aircraft. Hope that I will get the opportunity to try Bamboo Airways in the near future!
As a KrisFlyer Silver member, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I had priority boarding, known as BoardMeFirst. It proved to be quite advantageous!
Seats
Scoot's A320 seats are arranged in a 3-3 configuration, and overall, they offer a satisfactory level of comfort for a three-hour flight, with ample legroom. Unfortunately, I didn't capture images of the seats, hence I’m sharing a link to the review of this aircraft.
Features
As everyone knows, Scoot is a no-frills budget airline, so I opted for BYOE-ed (bring your own entertainment!).
No take-off and landing pictures/time lapse videoes also, as I got an aisle seat. I arrived at Changi Airport around noon, marking the end of this brief trip to Ho Chi Minh.
Conclusion
With its low price point, Scoot provides a good alternative for regional flights, and what you see is what you get. It also helps that you have priority boarding with Krisflyer Silver status! Moreover, you can accrue KrisFlyer miles when flying with Scoot.
